![]() ![]() Even the same events can have different outcomes depending on your character's personalities. On the surface, your characters may feel limiting because there are only three basic archetypes (warrior, mage, rogue) but underneath, they all can have different personalities, which make them react differently to each other and world events. In Wildermyth, everything, from your characters, the NPCs, the map (both overland and tactical) are generated, so your first run and 100th run can feel different. But once you finished a campaign, they always came at roughly the same points in a campaign. ![]() In games like XCOM and other turn-based tactic games, the events occurred as a means to push gameplay - a new type of mission or introduce an enemy. The campaigns have set narratives, so not everything is random, but even the random events take into account things like your characters personality, history, etc.Īs a long-time supporter/player of the game, I think the thing that the game did really well on to push was to present the player with events that helped tell stories about the characters. Honestly, the narrative is where it really shines, which is the last thing you would expect from a procedurally generated game. So between your base class, standard powers, and specialty powers, you have a lot of ways to make some very unique builds. These ones often, but not always, transform your characters appearance to some extent and you can choose the extent of that as the game progresses. A mage can be built as a Fighter/Mage hybrid and work very well in that role if you choose the right powers.Īnd there are over a dozen specialty classes you can get either from random events, making certain choices in certain campaigns, etc. There are only three basic classes, but many different ways to build those classes based on the feats you take at level up. Each character can move, perform one action, and one swift action per turn, much like DnD. I noticed that but there was no event or anything explaining why she changed.Īlso, on the same character, no background story at all is shown. There are multiple main stories, and there are a lot of random events as well. This guide explains everything there is to know about relationships in Wildermyth, the benefits you obtain in combat, and how romance, marriage and, children work. This element can have lasting effects both inside and outside combat, so it is vital to know how it works beforehand. One character suddenly have a transformed arms after downtime between two chapter. Relationships play a big role in Wildermyth, allowing for the characters you bring to each adventure to develop and grow together, either ending up in marriage or rivalries. Well to be fair he must have been really young when she died.Īlso some age inconstancy but let just say he was already born when the story started. The son of a deceased character came up, but in relation nothing is shown and the name is not the same (I think since the character was female the game generate a random father name). ![]() are they or are they not ? It's kind of confusing. My two warriors SEEMS to be in love (time alone looking at sun set for example) but no indication about romance I think. The romance and rivalry bonuses are more visible/dramatic, and we didn't want people gaming those.Īlso on the topic of romance, there is 2 things that make me scratch my head : Friendship gives a nice bonus too but it's more designed to be more of a passive thing. Originally posted by Worldwalker Games:oh, yes, there is. Is this supposed to be this way? Is there a chance to have children of two people in the party or will the children always be limited to one parent in the party and one off-screen?įor the time being, I was content with simply pretending as if she were the daughter of both my warrior and my hunter, but I would really appreciate you guys shedding some light for me on this ^^ She was an awesome addition to the party, don't get me wrong, but she was exclusively introduced as the male warrior's daughter and there was no mention of her mother whatsoever (which I thought or hoped would be the female hunter), she also only had his surname and only had him in her relationship panel at first. So, I had a LONG relationship between my male warrior and female hunter in my first playthrough (they were lovers for well over 40 years), but after the first period of peace I was surprised to have the warrior's daughter join my party. First of all: I am completely enamoured with this game! Great job, you guys! ![]()
